Male idol group U-KISS has returned. They’ve attempted a big change to match their 7 years since debut this year. Firstly, they’ve recruited a new member Jun and they’re leading extreme sexiness that is full of their masculine beauty.
On the 2nd, U-KISS held a showcase for their new mini album ‘Mono Scandal’ at V-HALL in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu in Seoul at 3PM. They introduced their comeback, album concept and their planned activities for the future.
Soohyun said, “It’s been long since we’ve done Korean activities so we’re very nervous. We’re sorry to the fans for coming back so late. We’ll be actively promoting.”
“I was so nervous that I couldn’t sleep properly. I’m just happy. I will work harder than the other members,” said Jun determinedly, who will be joining them from this round of activities onwards.
“He’s a friend with a great personality,” introduced Hoon while holding the new member Jun. “Actually I thought he’d be particular since he has exceptional skills, but it’s not like that. He has a great personality and we’ll be able to be a close family,” he continued.
Through this album, U-KISS will show a more mature manly charm and have also gone ahead with extreme exposure. The music video of the title song ‘Quit Playing’ has been banned from broadcast with its 19+ rating and has attracted the attention of the public.
Concerning this, the members explained, “We made an effort to take care of our bodies by controlling our diets in order to lose weight, reducing our body fat and building muscles.” Member Hoon also hinted at that period of time by showing off his firm muscular abs.
“We worked hard to show a different image than U-KISS’ current image. It’s also true we had a negative start,” said Soohyun. “We recruited a new member and were worried about how we could show an appeal that is exclusively U-KISS’,” he explained.
Following that, “Although it looks excessive and extreme, we wanted to show our manliness and sexiness.” He requested, “We also worked hard to show our more upgraded dance and vocals. We’re looking forward to showing it to the public. We’ll work hard during our activities so please look over us.”
On this day, U-KISS said, “We’ll work hard for our Korean activities. We’ll become a U-KISS who does not forget our original intention,” and in chorus their anticipation for their future movements rises.
The title song ‘Quit Playing’ is a collaboration between Duble Sidekick and BakChiGi. It is a song that stands out with its RnB melody and a lyrical urban soul sound mainly shown through guitar lines. The straightforward lyrics about the pitiful feelings of a man who looks at a girl who’s easily shaken by other men and U-KISS’ charming voices balance in harmony.
Besides the title song, there are 4 songs in the album which include ‘One’, a song that mixes U-KISS’ harmony and rookie composers Delinquent Boys’ monologue style lyrics and singing method, ‘Come Back to Me’ which is a joint work of composer 노는어린이 (Kim Won Hyun) and ZigZagNote and ‘Can't Do Without You’ with its highlight of Soohyun’s long 3 octaves notes.
U-KISS, starting with their showcase, plan to follow up with active promotions through various music programmes.

{NEWS}140603 U-KISS "Quit Playing" Choreography Banned for Broadcast
U-Kiss’ choreography for new song Quit Playing was disqualified from broadcast.
Preparing for its promotional activities after releasing the mini album Mono Scandal on June 2, U-Kiss decided to make adjustments to the choreography upon receiving requests from broadcasting stations.
The agency rep stated, “We’ve been requested to adjust the choreography as the broadcasting station decided that it is unfit for broadcasting standards so we’re currently changing parts of it now.”
Having received a 19 plus rating for its music video, U-Kiss is the first boy group to ever receive a ban on choreography by regular channels.

{NEWS} 140109 AJ, Ivy League student by day, Korea’s Justin Bieber by night
AJ tosses the messenger bag over his shoulder, shoving his hands in his pockets, as a smirk forms from the corner of his mouth. The photographer’s camera clicks.
“Try to find the owl!” AJ says, nodding at Columbia University’s statue of the goddess Athena sitting behind him. “Finding it means you’ll do well in school.”
Two prospective students checking out the campus stop at the sight of the young man modeling for a photographer, his entourage waiting below. What is going on here? their faces say. Should we know who this is?
AJ pays them no mind, instead tilting his head to the side to give another angle. He’s used to this, after all. No one in New York may recognize him, but back home in South Korea, he’s a star.
Meet AJ — born Kim Jaeseop — the 22-year-old member of Korean pop band U-KISS, who also happens to be a freshman at Columbia. Like Miley Cyrus’ Disney Channel character, Hannah Montana, AJ leads a double life — international heartthrob on one half of the Earth, psych major living in a dorm room on the other.
To date, his boy band has released five studio albums and 12 EPs that have produced 24 singles, totaling well over a quarter of a million records sold worldwide. U-KISS kicks off its first US mini-tour at the Best Buy Theater Thursday night.
Like virtually every boy band, each guy has a persona. AJ is the serious one, rapping about girls, girls and more girls. Fans even have a nickname for themselves — KissMes.
“In Korea and Japan, when the members of U-KISS go outside, they’re pretty much recognized. U-KISS is pretty famous,” he says. “[But] when I [came here for school], no one recognized me.”
Born and raised in Seoul, AJ got his start in the music industry at age 14. That’s when his older sister suggested to her friend, who was working for a company putting together a boy band, Paran, that AJ should audition — despite the fact that he couldn’t sing or dance.
“But my sister thought I looked like I should be in a band,” he says.
So did the company. AJ got the spot and left school in seventh grade to pursue an unlikely music career.Upset that management didn’t want him to sing live because of his vocal cracks from puberty, AJ decided to sing into his mike during a dress rehearsal.
“My manager heard that and, in front of all of the producers, he said with this loud voice, ‘CAN YOU TURN OFF MIKE No. 5?’ ” recalls AJ. “I was really embarrassed, and I cried backstage.” That motivated him to take voice lessons.
After a few years with Paran, the group disbanded, and in 2011 AJ landed a spot with the higher profile boy band, U-KISS, an acronym for Ubiquitous Korean International Idol Super Star.
AJ’s current tour is produced by Mnet America, an English-language cable channel “for all things Asian cool,” which will feature them on the show “Headliners.” It finishes in time for him to start the semester at Columbia on Jan. 21.
Even at the height of his success, AJ was unhappy about having given up his schooling for his career. So he hired a tutor, studied relentlessly and earned his GED — and eventually got into one of the top colleges in the world.
“Although I did not receive a normal education like other students, I have been able to prove that I can compete with the best of them, taking control of my future,” he says.His bandmates are supportive of the decision. One, Kevin Woo, even says he’d hire him as his therapist, should the whole psychology thing turn into a new career for him.
“There’s no reason for him not to be,” Woo says with a laugh. “He can really tell what someone is thinking. Roughly.”
But living AJ’s double life doesn’t come without its struggles.
“The pro is that I can experience the best of both worlds, but the con would be the confusion,” says AJ. “I am kind of confused on my identity. But since I chose this life, though it is difficult, I have to deal with it.When AJ announced he was going to take time off to attend Columbia, the news spread across the K-pop blogs all the way over to America. Maybe life wouldn’t be so different over here.
“I knew that U-KISS wasn’t really a worldwide [phenomenon]. But on the other hand, I expected some students would notice me because there is a Columbia students’ blog, and they actually posted me on the page,” he says. “But since no one did notice me [once I got here], I was kind of disappointed.”
Eventually that first semester, AJ got a dose of his other life. “Since I missed Korean food desperately, I went down to Koreatown by myself, and one night after I had a dinner, there was one person declaring [to me] ‘I’m a KissMe!’” he says. “That was the first time someone in NY recognized me as a singer. I took a picture with her.”
Now AJ has found that keeping the worlds separate can be beneficial. Only a few of his friends in NY know about his secret. “I want them to know me [just] as a person,” he says.
In his first semester, AJ studied obsessively, sleeping only three to four hours a night, leaving virtually no time for play. This semester, now that he’s proven to himself that he won’t fail, he’s going to take it easier. He wants to join a fraternity, go see Broadway shows and experience NY’s great restaurants — with tequila, his favorite. Maybe he’ll even find a girlfriend.
“There is one dream that I want to do,” he says, searching for his words. “I want to have a campus couple.”

First of all, to our fans, we are sorry to be relaying this bad news to you whilst we prepare for U-KISS's October release. DongHo, who has been with U-KISS since the group's debut, has decided to withdraw from the group and temporarily suspend his entertainment activities.
Since U-KISS's debut, Dongho's activities have received a lot love from fans, but also a lot of complaints from others.
It has been difficult for Dongho to overcome the obstacle of negative press. In addition, since the start of the year, DongHo has been struggling with his health. This has influenced him in making the decision of no long being able to fulfil his entertainment activities and to begin to lead a normal life.
DongHo, his parents and the company has discussed this matter to great lengths, and although we were divided on the issue, DongHo expressed his will adamantly. In the end, the company and the U-KISS members have come to respect his decision.
The company and U-KISS members want our fans, who have been through heartache and confusion, to know that this was not an easy decision to make.
From now on, please support DongHo on his new journey. As DongHo leaves a gap in all of our hearts, the new U-KISS- SooHyun, KiSeop, Eli, AJ, Hoon and Kevin will work hard to show you a new image. The remaining six members hope that everyone will send their sincerest love and support to the group.
From the bottom of our hearts, we wish to apologise to our fans for causing you heartache.

Idol group U-KISS has released their second full-length Japanese album and has entered in the top 10 of the Oricon Chart.
U-KISS's 2nd album, 'Inside of Me', was released on the 24th in Japan and landed at No.6. The album release comes right after their music video release for their title track "Inside of Me", which was highly anticipated by fans.
Their latest entry into the top 10 is very impressive as it has been five months since their last Japanese single "ALONE". U-KISS's latest Japanese album features 13 tracks, including previous singles, "Alone", "Distance", "Dear My Friend" and "One of You".
U-KISS will embark on their nationwide Japanese ZEPP tour on the 30th, starting from Tokyo and heading to other cities such as, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hokkaido.

U-KISS’s member Soohyun rose as the best idol singer.
In SBS PowerFM “Boom’s Young Street" radio aired yesterday, Soohyun came out as one of the contestants and won.
On this day, After School’s Reina, miss A’s Min, Hello Venus’ Yoora, and Soohyun came out to have a singing competiton.
Each contestant had to sing a song that was not of their own. Soohyun sang 4MEN’s “I Can’t," miss A’s Min her own rap song, After School’s Reina “I Have a Girl," and Hello Venus’ Yoora “I Must Be Stupid."
After each singer sang, the judge Kim Gun Woo chose U-KISS’s Soohyun as the best singer.
Fans of the radio show who heard it said, “I got the chills after listening to Soohyun sing. He’s really good," “I’ve been putting his song on repeat. It’s so good!," and “I wish they would do something like this more often."

{NEWS} 130702 U-Kiss Takes Mexico by Storm
Last night wrapped up the extremely successful South and Latin American leg of the U-Kiss tour. The group performed in Columbia and Peru, but saved Mexico for their last stop… a country which has been waiting a long time for Kpop!
After arriving in Mexico, the group took the time to tour local pyramids and get a taste of the Mexican culture. The members posted plenty of pictures as they were out sight seeing and tweeted some of them to fans.
On Friday morning, the group held a press conference at the historic Camino Real Polanco Hotel in downtown Mexico City. Despite the language barrier, the members were very at ease and friendly with the many reporters and photographers who turned out for the event. Junsu of JYJ was the first Korean artist to perform in Mexico in 2012, making U-Kiss only the 2nd Kpop artist to ever give a concert in Mexico and very first idol group to do so.
When speaking to the press, the members looked fresh and energetic despite their exhausting schedule. Reporters asked a variety of questions, such as what is their ideal woman and have they ever kissed a fan before. Though the members told that AJ had kissed a fan on the hand once, the others didn’t confess to anything else and instead said they consider all the Kiss Me’s to be their girlfriends. As far as their ideal type? Hoon and Kiseop both agreed they liked cute, petite girls and are sometimes in competition with each other because their ideal types are the same. On the other hand, Eli admitted he liked tall, voluptuous girls and Dongho said he likes girls with pretty hands. Leader Soohyun won the hearts of everyone present when he said he liked pretty Mexican girls.
On Friday night, the group gave an amazing performance to a sold out crowd. Because of general seating with most tickets, fans started forming a line at 6 a.m. in order to be close to the stage for the performance that night. Though the wait was exhausting, the spirit was one of excitement- fans spent the time talking about U-Kiss and Kpop, singing, dancing and making new friends. People had come from all over the country of Mexico, some even riding 13 or 14 hours in a bus to attend the event. One fan was even from Spain!
After the hugely successful concert, UKiss held a fan meeting the next night to a crowd of almost 1,000 people. Though the fans were a bit disappointed that the meeting only lasted an hour due to the fact that the band had to leave to catch their flight, everyone was in agreement that it was worth the time and money it took to attend. One fan said, “Every single moment was pure magic! Beautiful!”
The group sang 3 songs and also played some games with the crowd, such as musical chairs. Several lucky fans were pulled on stage to participate. The most exciting moment was when one young fan and Soohyun went for the same chair. He won, but in a fun spirit, he pulled her down and made her sit on his lap. When the crowd went wild screaming, he scooped her in his arms and stood up, carrying her like a groom carrying his bride. To the fan who was the final winner of the game, the members gave her a group hug and then danced around her as they were hugging her.
At the fan meeting, 50 lucky fans also won the chance to meet the members and get autographs. U-KISS's first unit 'uBEAT' have officially finished their promotional activties.
OhMyStar met with uBEAT on May 23 at MNET's M!Countdown and they stated, "It seems like yesterday that we started our promotions for "Should Have Treated You Better" but it's already the end," and "Throughout this time, uBEAT were able showcase a fresh image to our fans".

AJ stated, "When we go to the salon in the morning, because we have a lot less members the time spent there had been cut in half. There are pros and then there are cons, but now our activities have ended it's time for us to return to being U-KISS members".
In June, U-KISS will be embarking on their 'Latin America Tour' and visiting Peru, Colombia and Mexico. In July they will meet approximately 60,000 fans through their ZEPP tour that is to take place in five cities Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Hokkaido and Aichi. U-KISS's, the winner of the Hallyu Special Achievement Award last year, leader SooHyun has been admitted to Pai Chai University.
He was able to spend some quality time with the university president and professors.
